Job summary

The Applications Engineer is required to be a professional with communications transmission technologies such as fiber optics, coherent networks, etc. Extensive knowledge of SPs/NEMS R&D and manufacturing will be an advantage. The successful candidate must be a team player as they will be required to work with a diverse team of internal and external cultures and practices. This position requires a proactive and self-motivated individual who is able to work in a positive manner.

What you’ll do

• Work with stakeholders to help achieve regional sales and business development goals.
• Support the sales team during the proposal phase of new and existing projects by preparing and providing configuration proposals, project timelines, and acceptance testing plans.
• Manage the pre-sales cycle, assist in closing sales, and work with the team to achieve sales goals.
• Assist in the creation and delivery of product presentations for customers, meetings, and other venues.
• Provide technical support for field trial/POC implementation.
• Knowledge of fiber optic and photonics networks
• Familiarity with customer issues and challenges in Research, Telecom and NEMS.
• Knowledge of optical communications development, test and measurement.

What we’re looking for

Technical skills

• Optoeletronics working experience
• Knowledge of fiber optics networks & Photonics networks.
• Versed in the issues & challenges of our clients in the Research, Telecom, NEMS.
• Knowledge of Optical communication test and measurement instrumentation.
• Issues & challenges faced by fiber maintenance teams.
• Good understandable knowledge of Test system components.
• Optical component industry, Telecom carrier or Equipment Manufacturer background prefered.

Must have

Pertinent experience: 3-10 years’ experience technical support or research & development or application engineer.

Experience working within direct and overlay sales environments

Language requirements: English is a pre-requisite, others are advantageous.

Education:  Engineering Degree in telecommunications, electronics or equivalent (corporate experience also preferred)
