The development manager is responsible for the efficient product development and delivery of high-quality product releases. The development manager partners with the product manager and shares the overall success of the product. The development manager fosters the adoption of best practices and standards to the multi-disciplinary team members under responsibility and fuels a safe environment where innovation and learnings are celebrated. He/ She ensures that the technical aspects like security, tests, technical debt, etc. are considered in the estimates of the timeline and aligned with the roadmap requirements to win in the market.  

 

What you’ll do 

 

  • Build a high quality, globally available, fault tolerant software platform 

  • Provide technical leadership to the development teams 

  • Coach, inspire, train and hold the team accountable for delivering results, disseminating best practices and increasing their skills and impact. 

  • Ensure team members have winning conditions and seek for high performance standards 

  • Share ownership of the development backlog, including relative priorities with Product Manager(s);  

  • Discuss implementation trade-offs with Product Manager(s)/ Solution Manager(s) 

  • Ensure, along with the Product Manager, the nurturing of proximity to the customer needs; Represent the user from the development team perspective 

  • Seek customer and user satisfaction (delivery efficiency, quality, performance, scalability)  

  • Nurture out-of-the-box thinking and innovative problem solving 

  • Coach development teams on technological decisions, keeping alignement with enterprise architecture 

  • Occasionally engage in code reviews in order to remain grounded and connected 

  • Willing to jump into technical tasks, when needed 

 

What we’re looking for 

Technical skills  

  • High level of project management skills (Agile, SAFe, Scrum, Kanban)  

  • Proficient in code reviews, coding, architecture reviews   

  • Proficient in resource management tools like Jira/ Gitlab, Microsoft Project

Must have 

  • Pertinent experience: 5 + years’ experience in a team management role; and as lead developer or architect. 
  • Language requirements: Fluent in English and French
  • Education:  University degree in software engineering, computer science or equivalent
