Job Summary
Reporting to the Sales Engineering Manager EMEA, the Team Lead - Application Engineering EMEA is a seasoned professional who has a deep knowledge of Optics and experience in customer facing. Capable of supporting sales across multiple levels of customer organization.
Organizational and people skills are also required, as you will establish and maintain long-term relationships within high profile accounts (direct or via partners) and the team you will lead.
What you’ll do
Sales Focus
- As the Team Lead of the Application Engineering team, you will be an integral part of the Sales Organization and will be responsible for providing technical leadership, market intelligence and competitive analysis to enhance the Sales Organization’s ability to compete in existing and emerging markets.
- You will support the sales process on the technical side in conjunction with the Regional or Channels Sales Managers, as well as actively identifying Sales opportunities.
- Support trade shows, conferences, seminars and other marketing events.
- You will work with colleagues throughout the sales process providing best-in-class expertise to EXFO customers and within EXFO. You will share the business goals of the Sales Organization.
Leadership Focus
- You will and play a critical role in liaising and channel technology and industry intelligence to the Product Management team based in Canada, driving the technology focus based on market trends and requests from EMEA market.
- Assess potentially new and existing applications of EXFO products to meet customer needs, ensuring sales and sales management teams are kept up to date on the progress of sales opportunities and product applications.
- Take the lead with the technical requirements for large RFQ, RFP and RFIs.
- You will elevate the expertise of the EMEA Application team by providing technical coaching to them
- Demonstrate leadership by supporting your team in operational issues around workload and priority, while meeting business objectives
Technical Skills : Academic and Professional Requirements
- Education: Master’s degree in physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or other related technical master degree
- 5 years of experience in the Test and Measurement industry or equivalent experience within Service provider in the Fiber Optic area.
- Knowledge of Fiber Optic Test & Measurement instruments – EXFO, Viavi, AFL or any other competitor
- Programming skills such as Python for Automation and Integration tools are considered an advantage.
- Language Requirements: Fluent in English, any other European language is a plus.
- Other: Willing and able to travel extensively in UK (30%- 50% of the time) and sometimes in EU and Canada.
